How do I connect my MONOKEI Standard?

Wireless mode (Bluetooth):

  1. Turn on the MONOKEI Standard by flipping the switch located on the bottom of the keyboard.
  2. Make sure Bluetooth is switched on on your preferred device.
  3. Press Fn + P to initiate the pairing process. LED 1 will display a blinking white indicator during the pairing process.
  4. Select MONOKEI Standard from the list of devices.
  5. Type out the 4-6 digits code shown on screen using the MONOKEI Standard and hit Enter.
  6. Your MONOKEI Standard should be paired with your device now.

By default any device paired with the MONOKEI Standard will be assigned to Slot 1. If you would like to assign a device to a different slot (Eg: Slot 2, Slot 3, Slot 4) try the steps below:

  1. Press FN + 2 / 3 / 4 for 0.5s to switch to Slot 2 / 3 / 4. You should see a flashing purple light if this is successful.
  2. Repeat steps 3-6 above.

Wired mode:

  1. Connect the USB-C cable provided with the MONOKEI Standard to your device. The MONOKEI Standard should automatically be recognised by your device.

Can I use my MONOKEI Standard wired/wirelessly?

The MONOKEI Standard can be used both wired and wirelessly. To use the MONOKEI Standard in:

Why is there a lag/delayed response/repeated keystrokes when the keyboard is connected on wirelessly?

There may be something obstructing the signal or causing interference. Consider trying the following steps:

  1. Move the MONOKEI Standard closer to your device.
  2. Ensure that there is nothing between the MONOKEI Standard and your device that could cause signal interference.
  3. Turning the MONOKEI Standard on and off.

Why does my MONOKEI Standard disconnect from time to time?

Please ensure that

a) the MONOKEI Standard is far away from other Bluetooth devices which may cause interference with the wireless signal, and

b) the MONOKEI Standard is not resting on a metal surface.

How do I perform a factory reset on the MONOKEI Standard?

Press and hold FN + Tab for 10 seconds. You should see a flashing indicator if this is successful.

How many devices can I wirelessly connect to?

The MONOKEI Standard supports pairing with up to 4 devices wirelessly.

How do I know the if battery level is low on my MONOKEI Standard?

LED 2 will display a flashing red light when the battery is low. Please charge the MONOKEI Standard with the supplied charging cable. LED 2 will turn green and will go away when the battery level has reached 100%.

Why does my MONOKEI Standard not respond after my computer wakes from sleep mode?

Windows

  1. Go to Control Panel > System and Security > System > Device Manager
  2. In Device Manager, expand Bluetooth Radios, right-click on the Bluetooth wireless adapter, and then click Properties.
  3. In the Properties window, click on the Power Management tab
  4. Uncheck the option “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power”
  5. Click OK and restart your computer to apply the change.

macOS

Navigate to the Bluetooth preference pane in System Preferences:

a) Go to Apple Menu > System Preferences > Bluetooth

In the bottom-right corner of the Bluetooth preference window, click Advanced.

b) Make sure all three options are checked:

  • Open Bluetooth Setup Assistant at startup if no keyboard is detected
  • Open Bluetooth Setup Assistant at startup if no mouse or trackpad is detected
  • Allow Bluetooth devices to wake this computer

c) Click OK.

Can I customise the keycaps on my MONOKEI Standard?

Yes! The MONOKEI Standard comes with a keycap puller. You can remove the keycaps with the supplied keycap puller and swap them out with Cherry MX style keycaps of your choice.

Can I customise the switches on my MONOKEI Standard?

Yes! The MONOKEI Standard comes with a switch puller. You can remove the switches with the supplied switch puller and swap them out for Cherry MX style switches of your choice.

Can I open up my MONOKEI Standard?

I can’t seem to use the MONOKEI Standard on the macOS login screen. What should I do?

Some macOS users might find it impossible to use MONOKEI Standard to input passwords at the login screen. This is due to Apple’s implementation of FileVault, which loads a basic set of drivers sans Bluetooth.

One mitigation method is by following the steps in the discussion below:

I'm unable to add device on Windows, no pairing PIN pops up. What should I do?

This is a common issue on Windows. Try the following method to pair your MONOKEI Standard:

  1. Head to Control Panel > Hardware and Devices > Devices and Printers.
  2. Click “Add a device”. A window should pop up. Select “MONOKEI Standard” from the UI and click “Next”.
  3. Click on “Or, try entering a passcode on it”.
  4. Type the passcode provided using your MONOKEI Standard and your device should be paired.

The Print Screen key is triggering Windows Store / [insert program here] for me. What should I do?

The MONOKEI Standard comes with macOS mode/layout by default. If you're on Windows, kindly switch to Windows mode by pressing:

FN + W for 2 seconds.

The upper LED will light up in purple and you should now be in Windows mode. The Print Screen key should now work as intended.
